What is your reaction when this message pops up when you are searching for a web page? I’m usually pretty aggravated over it and try to Google another website that has something similar to what I was looking for. However, what will your reaction be when God opens up his electronic copy of the Book of Life, types your name into the database’s search bar, and this message pops up?
Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”
This is a pretty shocking message to be hearing, but we shouldn’t be surprised on the Day of Judgment because the Bible clearly tells us what we must do. John writes his first letter to those “who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13). Part of salvation is obeying God, but that is not enough. Our hearts also have to be right with Him, but we know when we are right with God and when we are not. So let’s get right Church, and let’s go home!
“Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:13-14
